INFORMATION ON L-ISOLEUCINE

ONLY AVAILABLE IN DRINKS

L-isoleucine is one of the three Branched Chain Amino Acids (besides L-leucine and L-valine) and a proteinogenic essential amino acid.

As it can't be synthesised by the body, it has to be ingested. It is stored in the liver and muscle tissue and highly associated with muscle growth and tissue repair.

Studies have demonstrated that L-isoleucine mediates glucose uptake and its conversion to energy in the muscle cell. It is used to boost energy, and by being involved in protein synthesis, it can both enhance muscle performance, as well as protect muscle from being broken down. In addition it can help to increase endurance, stamina and muscle recovery after intense activity.

Some research has shown that L-isoleucine helps maintain normal blood sugar levels, increases the production of haemoglobin, and it is essential for normal healthy growth in children.

BCAA's are important as fuel sources for skeletal muscles in times of metabolic stress, and L-isoleucine is commonly used, in combination with the other BCAA's, to improve the nutritional status of patients (parenteral and enteral feeding).

How it works:

L-isoleucine is an intermediate for muscle protein synthesis and is able to significantly increase glucose uptake and the usage of glucose during exercise.

It is also a vital compound for blood sugar and haemoglobin synthesis.
