INFORMATION ON VITAMIN D3 (CHOLECALCIFEROL)

Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that acts as a hormone precursor, converted in the liver to 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D) and in the kidney to the active form 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D (calcitriol).

Functions:

  • Regulates calcium and phosphorus absorption and homeostasis
  • Supports bone mineralization and skeletal integrity
  • Modulates immune system activity and inflammation
  • Influences gene expression and cell differentiation

TAILORBLEND typically uses vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) for superior potency and sustained serum levels compared to D2.

  • Magnesium: Required for vitamin D metabolism and activation
  • Calcium: Works with vitamin D for bone health

Typical Dosages:

  • Maintenance: 600–800 IU/day (15–20 µg/day)
  • Functional support (bone, immunity, mood): 1000–4000 IU/day (25–100 µg/day)
  • Therapeutic (deficiency correction): 5000–10,000 IU/day short-term under supervision
  • Upper safe limit: 4000 IU/day for adults (long-term)
