INFORMATION ON VITAMIN K2 (MenaQ7)

Vitamin K2 is a fat-soluble vitamin that exists as a series of menaquinones (MK-4 to MK-7). It activates vitamin K-dependent proteins involved in calcium regulation, blood clotting, and tissue mineralization.

Functions:

  • Directs calcium to bones and teeth, reducing deposition in arteries
  • Supports proper blood clotting
  • Works synergistically with vitamin D and magnesium for skeletal integrity
  • Modulates cellular signaling and gene expression

TAILORBLEND uses MK-7 for its longer half-life and better bioavailability compared to MK-4.

POPULAR USE & PUBLISHED BENEFITS bbbb

Vitamin K2 is commonly used to support:

  • Bone health by activating osteocalcin and directing calcium into bones
  • Cardiovascular health by preventing arterial calcification
  • Dental health and tooth mineralization
  • Nervous system function and cellular signaling
  • Synergy with vitamin D for calcium metabolism

WHOLE FOODS

Animal Sources:

  • Liver, egg yolks, cheese, butter

Plant-Based Sources:

  • Fermented foods (natto, certain cheeses)
  • Small amounts in vegetables and fermented soy products

RECOMMENDED USE

Synergistic Nutrients:

  • Vitamin D3: Enhances bone and cardiovascular benefits
  • Magnesium & Calcium: Work with K2 to support skeletal health
  • Vitamin A: Supports bone metabolism and tissue health

Typical Dosages:

  • Maintenance: 40–90 µg/day
  • Functional support (bone/cardiovascular health): 100–120 µg/day
  • Therapeutic (osteoporosis or arterial calcification support): 120–200 µg/day
  • MK-7 preferred due to longer half-life and more consistent serum levels
